Caring for a Vase of Flowers

1. Check the Water Level on Receipt of your Flowers

The water level my be low for the transport of your flowers. Check the level and fill the vase about two-thirds full with room-temperature water.

2. Find the Perfect Place to Display your Flowers

Display your flowers in a cool spot away from:

  • Direct sunlight: Heat causes flowers to wilt faster.
  • Drafts: Keep away from A/C, heaters, and fans.
  • Fruit bowls: Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, aging flowers rapidly.

3. Every Two Days Trim your Flowers and Refresh the Water

Every two days remove your flowers from the vase.

  • Empty the vase completely, rinse it out, and refill the vase about two-thirds full with room-temperature water.
  • Using sharp scissors or secateurs, cut about 2 centimeters off the bottom of each stem at a sharp 45-degree angle. This prevents the stems from sitting flat and maximizes their surface area to drink.
